Getting onto the sand.

Many Holden Beach accesses are steps over the dune, like the one above. These are the ones with a beach mat, a ramp or paved entry, or handicap parking.

Plan the day

The easiest accesses.

Two accesses have both a beach mat and a wheelchair-accessible entry. Both sit near the bridge, close to restrooms.

  1. PW180 at Quinton St (114 Ocean Blvd E). Beach mat, accessible entry, a 5-space handicap lot, restrooms and a shower.
  2. PW200 by Jordan Blvd (103 Ocean Blvd W). Beach mat, accessible entry, a shower and an EV charger. The big Jordan Blvd lot and Pavilion restrooms are next door.
  3. PW1 at the east end (McCray St). Accessible entry, 2 handicap spaces, restrooms and a porta-john. No mat listed.
Heads-up: Brunswick County notes that mats may be removed ahead of storms and king tide cycles. Call Town Hall at 910-842-6488 if a specific mat matters for your visit.
Beach wheelchairs: we found no Town loaner program for Holden Beach. Some private beach gear companies that serve the island list beach wheelchairs for rent: see beach gear rentals. Golf carts and other vehicles are not allowed on the beach.

Accessible entry or handicap parking, no mat

These accesses have a wheelchair-accessible entry or handicap parking but no beach mat listed.

Good to know: the pier lot at 441 Ocean Blvd W has 97 spaces, 8 of them handicap, plus public restrooms. The pier itself is closed. Paid parking runs 9 AM to 5 PM daily; a handicap plate or hangtag in a handicap space parks free.
